Gaeltacht site work days are drop-in days to help us to maintain the physical site throughout the Spring-Autumn. This is open to anyone able to come to the site to help with minor maintenance.
Refreshments provided, as well as the extra opportunity for Irish language mini-immersion (though no Irish ability is required at all).
Regular Maintenance Tasks
Grass Cutting
-From the road to the back Field
-Around the main Field
-Trails
-The memorial Area
Trimming
-Around the Outhouse
-Around the Shed
-Around the Seacans
-Around the Shower
-Around the Pavillion
-Around the woodpile and Firepit
-Around the Dock and Canoe
-Around the Memorial area
Trees*
-Remove any fallen trees from the Trails and Fields
-Cut Fallen Trees For Firewood
-Rake any debris left by fallen trees
-Mark any trees that look like they may be liable to fall on trails.
*If a tree has fallen and it is not on the trail or in the field areas, it is to be left for the sake of the local ecosystem, only trees posing a risk to safety are to be felled)
Specific Tasks Before August Immersion 2023
-Outhouse to be cleaned
-Paint the outhouse
-Fix the Pavillion
-Fix the Gaeltacht sign at the front of the property
-Large water tank to be placed on top of the Seacan and strapped securely in place
-Firewood to be chopped
-Tents to be pulled out, setup, and cleaned
-Garbage to be removed from Seacans

Any member of the Gaeltacht is welcome on-site at any time, although we request that you let us know at info@gaeilge.ca beforehand so that site access may be ensured and a record of visitors kept. If you wish to camp overnight on-site, a request must be made through info@gaeilge.ca
